You can participate in building some of tomorrow's most exciting new businesses by volunteering with SCORE. Over 11,000 experienced businesspeople throughout the U.S. are currently counseling emerging small businesses, and they need your help. Established in 1965 and backed by the Small Business Administration, SCORE is a national organization dedicated to helping small business. The members of SCORE give workshops, provide counseling, and develop reference materials to help businesses deal with everyday challenges

The Portland Chapter, with over 90 members and over 4,000 clients a year, has one of the strongest programs in the nation, and we are still growing. We need counselors in all business disciplines including accounting, law, finance, marketing, manufacturing, and human resources. Volunteers interested in developing workshops, promoting chapter activities, and assisting with chapter management are also welcome.

How to Join
|
Membership applications will be reviewed in light of chapter needs and prospective volunteers will be interviewed by a member of the Volunteer Committee.
Upon acceptance the prospective member will be assigned a mentor and will go through a 90 day orientation to familiarize the prospective member with SCORE services, workshop content, and counseling procedures.

Members are expected to attend monthly member meetings, attend quarterly training sessions, and be available to contribute at least 12 hours per month to chapter work. Typically members will have significant business management or professional experience.
